The Job
As our Finance & Accounting Lead, you play a key role in strengthening and scaling our finance operations during a period of international growth. You take ownership of core accounting processes and drive improvements across the finance function. Next to ensuring accurate and reliable financial operations, you focus on building structure, efficiency, and leveraging modern technology to scale the finance operations. You will work side-by-side with the team to identify bottlenecks, introduce smart automation tools, and elevate our overall financial operations. You lead projects, improve processes, and naturally take a coordinating role within the team. You work closely with the accounting team, stakeholders across the organisation, and external partners, reporting to the Senior Business Controller.
Responsibilities
Accounting leadership & close management: Lead and coordinate the month-end/year-end closing processes across multiple entities, working closely with the Junior Financial Controller. Ensure accurate financial reporting and timely balance sheet reconciliations.
Procure-to-pay ownership: Take full ownership of the end-to-end procure-to-pay cycle, ensuring efficient invoice processing, timely payments, vendor management, and compliance with internal controls.
Treasury & tax compliance: Manage cash flow, monitor liquidity, oversee banking activities, and handle Dutch and international VAT compliance.
Transformation & process improvement: Identify bottlenecks, lead process optimization initiatives, and drive the adoption of new technologies, systems, and ways of working to create a scalable and efficient finance function.
Automation & AI innovation: Design and implement AI and automation solutions to eliminate manual tasks and increase overall efficiency.
Cross-functional collaboration: Serve as the central connector between accounting, internal operations and external partners.
Team coordination: Responsible for the day-to-day coordination and supervision of a team of 3 colleagues within the accounting team, including supporting, guiding, and mentoring team members, and taking a leading role in daily operational activities.
Do you recognize yourself in the following?
5–8 years of experience in accounting, finance operations or financial control
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar
Experience in taking ownership of processes and leading improvement or change initiatives
Comfortable coordinating work and guiding others in daily operations or projects
Strong analytical skills with a structured and detail-oriented way of working
A proactive mindset with a natural drive to improve and simplify processes
Able to operate in a fast-moving, international environment
Experience with Excel; Visma.net and Google Workspace are a plus
Good command of Dutch and English, verbally and in writing
